Kathmandu is having its first ever Flash Mob and I am all excited about it. Just until last week, I had no idea what it was all about but after watching this clip in youtube, I am all in for it.
A group of social workers, teachers, health workers, environmentalists, child rights activists, animal rights activists, promoters of social responsible business practices from different organizations working in the brick kilns of Kathmandu Valley are doing this to create awareness about the situation in the brick kilns in mostly the outskirts of Kathmandu and how the consumer can play their role in improving the situations.
One of the main reason for me to join the Flash Mob is because of the cause itself and since the dissertation for my post graduate studies was related to the Migrant Worker of Brick Kilns. During my research period, I have seen those worker and their family working in severe working conditions with no clean water to drink, proper place to stay or proper health services including the minimum facilities such as first aid. Even while making field visits for Animal Nepal, I have seen those donkeys suffering. So, this is more of a morale call for me than just the fun factor that comes along.
Please click here for more information on the event and how you can participate. I have attached few videos which might just interest you to join us to make some move out there in the open for a cause. It is going to be grand and one of a kind event here in Nepal.
